Lime Allee: photograph by Marianne MajerusThis is a cool interlude before one bursts through the beech hedge into the hot garden.  There are two lines of pleached limes, Tilia platyphyllos 'Rubra'.  Originally these were under-planted with black tulips but those were replaced with the two-tone Muscari latifolium.  When the sea of pale and dark blue disappears, we replant with a pale heliotrope called ‘Lord Roberts’.
